Bring Dessert!
We are asking you to donate your favorite baked goods to supply our weekly Fish Fry with desserts. Please bring your home or purchased baked goods to the parish cafeteria Friday anytime before 4:00pm. Pies and cakes do NOT need to be pre-cut. Disposable pans will be greatly appreciated, but if you bring your goodies in a pan that needs to be returned to you, please make sure your name is on it. They will be cleaned and put at the front desk the following Monday for you to pick them up.

Volunteer Your Time - Volunteer Opportunities
There are still volunteer positions to help serve at the Fish Fry's.  We can always use help Friday mornings at 8:00am to prep and also Friday evening at 8:00pm to clean up. We use an online scheduling program called SignUp.com to coordinate volunteers. You simply need to enter your email address to access the online schedule and then select the position, date and times you would like to work.

 

Friday Morning Preparations
Assistance is needed in a variety of jobs to be ready for the Fish Fry. Tasks include: Fish Breading, preparing halusky, coleslaw and condiments etc. These positions require standing and a hair net or baseball hat must be worn. Please note all prep work will now be in done in the New Church Hall (Basement).

Provide Individually Wrapped Desserts for Nursing Home Lunches
You can do this job at home and simply bring in your desserts by 10am on Friday.  Each volunteer is asked to supply 25 individually wrapped desserts as we need between 100-125 desserts each week to include in our nursing home lunch deliveries.

Prep Cook
Begin cooking food in preparation for the fish fry. Foods include sauces and soups and noodles. Position requires constant standing, wearing a hair net or baseball cap and being exposed to heat and steam.

Cooks
Frying Shrimp, Fish and French Fries, heating and constantly stirring soup. Position requires constant standing, wearing a hair net or baseball cap and being exposed to heat and steam.

Food Expeditor
Run food from the fryers to the serving line and soup area. Constantly watch the food volume and notify when more food is needed. This position is fast pace and constantly on your feet. Strength is needed in lifting heavy food items.

Meal Delivery
Delivering meals to businesses and nursing homes. Each driver will deliver 1-2 homes in the Cranberry - Mars area. The number of drivers will depend on the volume of business. We may cancel or add to this position.

Take out Phones
Receive incoming phone calls regarding take-out orders and put orders into the Point of Sale computer system. Take any online orders off the computer and put into the Point of Sale system. Computer skills needed. Volunteers must be 16 years or older.

Take Out Food Serving
Working in the take out area serving food onto plates or containers, ensuring the order is filled correctly and given to customer, prepping the bags with condiments and sides, serving soup and Haluski into bowls. Position requires constant standing, wearing a hair net or baseball cap. This position needs attention to detail and is fast pace and constantly on your feet.

Cashier Dine in & Take Out
Take orders on the Point of Service computer system and collect money for meals.

Dining Room Set Up
This position requires cutting desserts and placing a variety of desserts on dessert tables. Tables need to be set with placemats, and condiments. Silverware can be rolled.

Dining Room Serving Line
Serve food onto plates. Position requires constant standing, wearing a hair net or baseball cap.

Dining Room Table Servers
Dining Room Table Servers collect orders from customers, submit order to food servers and deliver order to table. This position is fast pace and constantly on your feet. Volunteers must be 16 years or older.

Dining Room Table Bussers
Clear dirty plates, refill drinks, clean tables, replace placemats. This position is fast pace and constantly on your feet. Volunteers must be 10 years or older.

Dining Room Soup Server
Serve soup and maintain soup supply. Position requires constant standing, wearing a hair net or baseball cap.

Hostess - Greet and seat customers. Requires volunteer to be constantly on their feet. Volunteers must be 12 years or older.

Desserts Table
Adult required - handling knives and cutting equipment. Adult will be stationed at main dessert table. Younger volunteers will assist monitoring other dessert tables to ensure variety. Collect donations if given.

Silverware Rollers
Roll silverware in napkins. Volunteers must be 8 years or older.

50/50 Sales
Sell 50/50 raffle tickets and collect money. Volunteers must be 12 years or older.

Specialty Item Sales
Sell Fish Fry specialty items and collect money. Volunteers must be 12 years or older.

Dishwasher
Scrubbing pots and pans, rinsing off dishes and operating the automatic dishwasher. This position requires constant standing and may get wet.

Trash Manager
Constant monitoring of the trash cans, empty trash cans in the dumpsters and replace trash liners. Assist in rolling silverware when available. This position requires lifting heavy garbage bags out of the garbage pails to place into dumpster. Volunteers must be 12 years or older.

Clean Up
After the fish fry is completed both the dining room and kitchen need cleaned and all items put away for the next week. Volunteers must be 8 years or older if working alongside a parent.
