An ancient Biblical principle, called tithing, directed that 10% of what one was given should be returned back to the Lord in the form of charitable giving.
What does that mean for me?
Saint Kilian Parish is striving to provide a wide range of ministries and services on a daily basis. This is supported almost exclusively by the offertory contributions of parishioners. The parish is also embarking on a very challenging building program to provide for the current and future needs. This Second Century Campaign asks parishioners to give sacrificially so that we might provide a home for our worship, education and activities.
How much should I give?
The custom of tithing (10%) is very strong among many non-Catholics. In large part, that is why so many of these churches never ask for money or have fund-raisers... because their members acknowledge the obligation to tithe and contribute 10% of their income. Some Catholics wonder what they are expected to give to their church. It is understood that many demands are placed upon us all. But for the next several years, would you consider making Saint Kilian Parish the primary recipient of your charitable efforts? Tithing may even be tax deductible (please see your tax advisor regarding charitable contributions).
Please use the chart below to determine the level of your current contributions and the level at which you might contribute to this special appeal.
